Banana Bread Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 large)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for kneading)

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup softened butter

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast – In a small bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make Dough – Add mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, egg, and salt. Mix until combined. Gradually add flour and knead for 5–7 minutes until soft and slightly sticky.
  3. First Rise – Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Shape Rolls – Roll dough into a 16x12-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter, then sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture. Roll tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 rolls.
  5. Second Rise – Place rolls in a greased 9x13 dish. Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Bake – Bake for 25–28 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Frosting – Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread over warm rolls and enjoy!
