Seven Layer Taco Salad

The Seven Layer Taco Salad is a vibrant, crowd-pleasing dish that combines fresh vegetables, creamy dressing, zesty salsa, and crunchy tortilla chips. Perfect for parties, family gatherings, or a quick no-cook lunch, this salad looks as good as it tastes — especially when served in a clear dish to showcase its colorful layers.

Ingredients

  • 1 head of lettuce, shredded
  • 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup corn, drained
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • 1 cup salsa
  • Tortilla chips, for topping

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the sour cream and taco seasoning until well combined. Set aside.
  2. In a large clear glass bowl or trifle dish, spread the shredded lettuce evenly across the bottom.
  3. Add the black beans as the second layer, followed by the corn, then the cherry tomatoes.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the vegetables.
  5. Carefully spread the taco-seasoned sour cream over the cheese layer.
  6. Spoon the salsa over the sour cream.
  7. Just before serving, sprinkle crushed tortilla chips on top for crunch.
  8. Garnish with extra cheese, green onions, or fresh cilantro if desired. Serve chilled.

Additional Tips

  • Use a clear dish to beautifully display the colorful layers.
  • Add guacamole or diced avocado between layers for extra richness.
  • You can prepare this salad a few hours ahead of time, but add the tortilla chips just before serving to keep them crispy.
