Ingredients
- 1 whole pineapple, peeled and cut into chunks
- ½ papaya, seeded and chopped
- 3–4 mandarins or tangerines, sliced
- 1 large piece fresh ginger root, sliced
- 1 medium piece fresh turmeric root, sliced
- 1–2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tablespoon whole black peppercorns or whole cloves
- 4–6 cups water
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Concentrated Base
- Wash the ginger and turmeric thoroughly.
- Add the ginger, turmeric, part of the papaya, and some mandarin pieces to a blender.
- Add a small splash of water and blend until smooth.
Step 2: Simmer the Ingredients
- Place the pineapple chunks, remaining papaya, mandarin slices, cinnamon sticks, and black peppercorns in a large pot.
- Pour in the blended mixture.
- Add enough water to cover the ingredients.
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 30–45 minutes.
Step 3: Strain the Drink
- Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Strain through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
- Press the fruit pulp to extract as much liquid as possible.
Step 4: Store
- Pour the liquid into clean glass bottles or jars.
- Refrigerate until chilled.
